Thankful
by Dorothy Nell Harper The very word "Thanksgiving" Is enough to give us pause To search for its deepest meaning That gives us all a cause. To reflect on life in general, For the reason to greet the morn, To know that somebody loves us And is glad that we were born. As we call to mind our belssings From the greatest to the least We are conscious of the hunger Even as we sit to feast. We recall the things we're thankful for Family, church and friends. I'm even thankful for my cat And a list that never ends. For if I tried to name them all, This poem would go on and on. I would soon run out of paper And my spelling might be wrong! Besides, Jesus knows my limit And I have my stopping place. I will just say "Lord, I'm thankful" There. I state my case.
